Helping the People of Haiti and Chile
We are all aware of the devastating earthquake of January 12, 2010 that struck the country of Haiti, one of the poorest in the world. The ongoing images and stories that continue to fill our screens are heartbreaking.
Then, on February 27, 2010 we learned of another destructive earthquake that struck the country of Chile. Once again, the destruction and victims' stories are difficult to comprehend.
We have been asked: "Will 'Vacations That Give' be helping in Haiti and/or Chile"? The simple answer is: yes, it is our hope that we will be able to be of assistance.
Recovery work: Our organization is best suited to help in the work of recovery, that is, the work that will take place when the immediate relief tasks of emergency aide, temporary shelter and clean-up have taken place. In the weeks/months ahead we will be talking with organizations, assessing situations and making plans for future recovery efforts.
Volunteering: If you would like to participate in a 'Vacations That Give' effort in these areas please contact us so that we can inform you of any developments regarding the recovery work.
An added note: "Vacations That Give" is sponsored by the Sisters of Saint Anne. Our sisters live among and serve the people of both Haiti and Chile.
